I enjoyed the fantasy aquatic world created by the author. The second half was a thrilling page-turner! Appreciated the positive message of being stewards of our environment for our children and future generations.
Young adult science fiction/suspense. The story was good, and it was well-written.
Very descriptive settings of the Cape Cod region which is a good backdrop for these teens and all the inter-twinings they get into amongst themselves and also Summer's struggles with her father. I enjoy how the book doesn't hold back and lets you feel the characters' thought processes. Still reading.
I read books to screen them for my kids, and not only will this work for both my tween daughter and teen son, but I'm a little embarrassed to admit that at some point I transitioned from 'screening' to 'hooked' and wondering if I could predict the next plot twist. I'd highly recommend this clever story for any YA and any of their parents who might appreciate a good escape.
Fresh context for wholesome young adult reading. As the parent of teens who came of age with many choices in fantasy fiction, it's easy to think I've heard it all from wizards to vampires. But the heroine of this new sea adventure is novel, courageous and genuine. There's young love, danger, science-y drama, and true friendships. I recommend this work for readers from age 12 to adult and predict that they too will delight in this new fiction as I do!
Great book! I thought the character development, plot twists, and the fantastical tale were all well done and the book was effortless to read. I was lost in and enjoyed his created world/characters which is what we all want… to divert ourselves from the day to day. While he has his own distinctive style the book reminds me of Michael Crichton and Daniel Suarez. Thriller genres with scientific underpinnings! I hope he decides to write a sequel!
Having read this book and thoroughly enjoyed it, I recommended it to my 16 year old daughter. As soon as she finished it, she recommended it to another friend, who read it in two nights. An engaging story with surprising plot twists. If you want an escape, this is it!
