********Spoiler Alert********This book had me thinking about Chris Brown's song 'Young Love'
If you think you are 'too old' for a teenage story should rethink that thought. Really. I am 28 years old and enjoyed this book so much. The author drew me in. Made me feel as if *I* was a student right along with Jason and Kyra. I'm from Detroit so I was really amazed at how she describe their whereabouts; and if you were to ask me I believe that "Cross" was actually Cass Tech....well that's the school I imagined they were in. Lol.
Anyway, while reading the book I had in mind that Jason was 18 not thinking about the fact that they (Kyra & Jason) were juniors. But they were so mature. I liked the fact that Jason ended things with Lisa because of his feelings for Kyra. He wasn't a player nor did he cheat. so he did what he had to do and didn't think twice about it nor worried about what his crew would think.
Kyra was plain ole' Kyra. What Kyra liked, how she dressed, the way she wore her hair and the shoes she wear is what makes Kyra Kyra. She was so confident of herself and mature and didn't care what people thought or said about her. The only thing/person she cared about was Jason and that's all that mattered.
Lisa really got on my nerves with her snotty attitude. She talked about Kyra as if she knew her or did something that made her not like Kyra to her...and this was all before the break up.
I would love a follow up on Kyra and Jason like in the twelve grade heading to college or something. Maybe if the ending was a little longer I would be much more satisfied. I mean they didn't even talk after her Presentation. I think the author could have given us more about them getting back together. Oh, and she could have went into the reasons why Jason's father treated him the was he did. I was thinking it was because Jason's mother died when he was three and his father really didn't know how to handle it and never got over it. Him telling Jason his father did him the same way just didn't sit well with me. That should have made his father want to treat him much better than his did. Lets just hope that the apple fell far away from the tree when it comes to Jason and his seed(s).
Give us a second book!!!!
Will recommend not only to teenagers but to adults as well. Great read!

Jason Kyra Dana Davidson Books Reviews
I love love love love love love love love this book
I could not stop read it and could not put it down and I can read it over and over
This is by far one of my favorite books since like 8th or 9th grade. It really capture the Point Of Views well. I'm just in love with everything of how the story develops and most definitely the ending. It was perfect for me, I read it over and over multiple times. I can't get tired of this one.
arrived on time and as described
I was browsing for a book I needed for my AP English class. After a few searches, I came across this book. When I read the title I had to read the summary. I was first attracted to the title because my name is Kyra and I rarely run across others with the same name. After I read the brief synopsis of JASON & KYRA, I had to have this book. My life parallels the character Kyra. I am the brainiac at my school (but I don't have the popularity issues). I immediately began to read as soon as the mailman dropped it in my box. I could not put the book down. I read it in about 7 hours. I have never been so interested in a book before. There was never a dull moment. It is very refreshing to read about characters who do not fit into the typical stereotype of young African Americans. I will recommend this book to all of my friends and I hope that Ms. Davidson will continue to write books for the young adult African American audience.
another favorite of mine by Dana Davidson, i read this book in junior high, high school and now in my senior year in college. Its really amazing and very mature like books for teens. Totally recommended and you won't be wasting your money. It is also a keeper for me plus it is really cheap.
A cute little teenage love story. A little cheesy at times, but a decent read nonetheless. Kyra was a likeable character, though at times she was often coming off as a know-it-all, but it was easy to see how she was falling for Jason - and I loved Jason's character though I felt he went overboard with the breakup and could have been a little more understanding to Kyra's insecurity and perhaps the two of them could've been mature enough to talk it out and make things better, I could tell the separation hurt him, and that he had fallen head over for Kyra in such an adorable way. Glad the two of them were able to reconcile. A nice little read.
